The German Shepherd Dog, also known as Alsatian is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany which dates back in 1899. Developed originally for herding sheep but because of their strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training, today they are often employed as police war dogs.
‘Big dog’ left his mark on a Brunswick neighborhood’s heart
Earlier this month, Ron Piko took the same morning walk through his neighborhood that he has taken for the past nine years. It was the first time, however, that he took it without his best friend at his side.
Later that day, Piko prepared to pick up the ashes of his beloved companion, Dagol.
“He is a family member, we never considered him a pet,” Piko said. “And today was the first time I walked in that area without him.”
Piko’s voice cracked briefly as he continued.
