ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska State Troopers are presenting a special award to Buddy, a German Shepherd that led authorities to a fire at his owners’ property near Willow.
Buddy will receive the engraved silver-plated dog bowl Friday afternoon in Anchorage.

A Ridgefielder and his 13-week-old Golden Retriever were attacked Tuesday night by a pair of unleashed German shepherds, whose owner drove away from the scene following the attacks.
The attack happened outside the Parks and Recreation Center, near Founders Hall. Police responded around 7:30 p.m. The owner drove away with the dogs before police arrived. Police have a description of the vehicle driven by the German shepherd owner and were investigating the case Wednesday, according to Police Capt. Clifford Scharf.

Thor, a two-year-old German shepherd, and his handler Lt. Sam Losi, were in Niagara-on-the- Lake Tuesday to conduct training drills with the Niagara Regional Police canine unit.
That afternoon, Sgt. Jeff Hopkins, head of the NRP canine unit, received a call to assist in a search for a shoplifting suspect in southwest Niagara Falls.
April 20, 2010 – Last week Douglas Spink, a convicted cocaine smuggler and once a wealthy entrepreneur in Oregon, was arrested for violating the terms of his supervised release and it’s likely he has been involved in bestiality – people who enjoy sex with animals.
Police are saying this isn’t the first time something odd between Spinks and animals has come up. In 2005 Spinks was pulled over and arrested for possession of 372 pounds of cocaine.
