The German Shepherd Dog, also known as Alsatian is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany which dates back in 1899. Developed originally for herding sheep but because of their strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training, today they are often employed as police war dogs.

CARMICHAEL, Calif. (CBS) They say good fences make good neighbors — that is, unless someone is tossing poisoned meat to the other side.
Residents of Carmichael, Calif., outside Sacramento, say a dog killer is living in their midst and has left at least one dog dead and others hospitalized, in attacks with a long history, according to CBS affiliate KOVR.
