Pit bull’s attack may knock Woodcliff Lake puppy out of Seeing Eye program
WOODCLIFF LAKE — A 9-month-old German shepherd being raised as a prospective Seeing Eye dog was recovering at home Monday after being attacked by a pit bull.
The dog, Dusty, had to undergo four hours of surgery at the Park Ridge Animal Hospital on Friday to repair lacerations that extended from his ear down his neck, said Roger Woodhour, Dusty’s foster parent.

The German Shepherd Dog, also known as Alsatian is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany which dates back in 1899. Developed originally for herding sheep but because of their strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training, today they are often employed as police war dogs.
